To the north across the Solway Firth lie the misty Scottish mountains.
Dog friendly - and lane to village
The garden also includes a secure fenced area where dogs are free to roam in safety away from my free range hens who also live here (delicious eggs are usually available). Through another gate an enclosed green lane leads in 20 minutes to Lorton village with its 1000 year old yew tree and excellent village shop. The friendly dog-welcoming Wheatsheaf pub is 15 minutes further on and has a very generous menu (book ahead).
Hot Tub with a view!
There are two hot tubs available at High Swinside. Both are spring-fed and wood-fired. One of them can also be heated by off peak electricity or solar power. The two hot tubs are discreetly separate from each other, and cannot be viewed from the cottages, but they have the best of the view! Cost £10 a night for a minimum of 3 consecutive nights. Please reserve when you book the cottage as there 3 cottages and only 2 hot tubs!
Other Information
High Swinside Cottage has central heating with radiators in all rooms. The water is heated by immersion heater - apart from the two electric showers.
